On the 2nd of April, tragedy struck in the remote mountains of ulley . People saw the lifeless body of a female snow leopard the mother of a 3 year old cub.she had been pierced by the very horn of an ibex she had managed to kill—a testament to the brutal reality of the wild. The forest department cleared her remains, but the ibex carcass remained untouched, a silent reminder of her last hunt. It was left there for her cub, a young snow leopard around three years old.

On the 4th we got news that a snow leopard had entered a house in a village and was still lurking around the hills behind the house we left for the village on the 5th morning when we were at the village scanning the surroundings for the grey ghost word reached my guide that the cub of the dead snow leopard was seen near the kill.We rushed to Ulley, hearts heavy with anticipation. As the evening sun cast its golden glow over the mountains, we spotted the cub perched on a rock, high above, watching over his mother’s final kill. His gaze was steady, his presence a silent tribute to the bond they shared.

As twilight deepened, the cub descended from his perch, making his way to the carcass. It was a moment raw with emotion—nature’s cycle in its purest form. I captured the scene on video: his determined but hesitant walk, the quiet solemnity as he approached, and then the primal act of feeding, a stark reminder of life’s harsh truths.

The distance between us and this magnificent creature was around 200 meters the story of the old male in the village is for another time .
